Example 2 of How Technology has Changed Society’s Expectations of Mass Media and Culture
The introduction of the Internet 25 years ago changed society and cultural expectations. There are over 600 million websites, 500 million tweets are sent every day and approximately 2.4 billion people have access and go on the internet. Our expectations of how we access information and share information are different from previous generations. Technological advancements such as the internet, mobile devices, and software have created new methods and new demands from the audience. The internet and the creation of social media have changed how we work, the way we live and communicate, and how we make and maintain friendships. Individuals expect to be able to stay connected to friends and family and technology has made a major impact on how we live. We need to be able to connect when and where we want and on the platform we prefer. By being able to connect to anyone regardless of location society and cultures has expanded and we understand other culture better and can learn more about each other.
