How Technology has Changed the Work of Communicators
There are so many ways that technology has changed how we now communicate. In the past communication was limited to traditional methods, these methods were time-consuming, costly, and one way. Technological advancements have changed how communication professionals interact and how consumer trends have changed to be more demanding on these professionals. New digital tools have been developed providing professionals with new devices, programs, and platforms to use to engage the audience. One major way technology has changed the tasks of a communicator is location. The workplace environment for these professionals is no longer the newsroom or offices. It can be anywhere and work can be performed at any time. The internet, mobile devices, and social media platforms have all contributed to the freedom to report and find stories without the restriction of being in one place. The ability to work remotely and communicate freely is one of the most important ways technology has changed how we are able to communicate as a business and with each other.
